November 19, 2018From: Renaissance Academy Charter School
PHOENIXVILLE, PA On November 15, 2018, an admission recruiter from Widener University visited Renaissance Academy (RA) for Instant Decision Day. Instant Decision Day is a process that allows high school seniors or rising seniors, to apply and interview with a college admissions representative, then receive an immediate admissions decision on the spot.
Tracey Behrens O'Brien, Academic/College Counselor a RA, is pleased to announce that, of the 12 seniors who participated in this event, all 12 have been accepted to Widener University. These students include Arianna Prince, Samantha Hutchins, Gabriel Harper, Gabrielle Beauchamp, AbuBakr Sangare, Madison Kerper, Kayleigh Gehring, Katherine Yatsko, Arik Cogar, Daniele Smith, Nya Shippen, and Tomisin Latona.
Mrs. Behrens O'Brien said, "What an exciting morning for our seniors! The admissions representative from Widener, Carl Walmbold, was knowledgeable and welcoming and had valuable conversations with our senior applicants. In addition to informing them of their admission status, he also took the time to discuss career pathways and offer suggestions for the college majors that would best align with them. For some, this was their first college acceptance. It was an eye-opening experience that helped these seniors affirm the value in meeting with admissions representatives (who aren't actually scary people passing arbitrary judgment from behind a desk). I'm so proud of our students! The Class of 2019 has already reached the $1-million-dollar mark in scholarship offers!"
Kutztown University was also scheduled to participate in Instant Decision Day but had to cancel due to the impending weather. The university will be rescheduling its visit to RA in the near future. RA hopes to host more Instant Decision Days in the future!
