April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Please join us for a FUN and FREE kite festival at Lower City Park Shelter #5 on April 20th.  We will be flying kites in honor of all the children in Johnson County who have been impacted by child abuse.

Every year 1,500 children in the United States are lost due to the effects of child abuse.  8,558 children in Iowa were abused in 2017.  47% of those children were under the age of five years old.  There were 286 reports of child abuse in Johnson County alone.

This event is hosted by Johnson County Community Partnerships for Protecting Children, Prevent Child Abuse – Johnson County, Johnson County Social Services, and the City of Iowa City.
