David Strauss joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in November 2021, following a 36-year career in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Colonel. David understands the challenges and opportunities associated with life in the military and is committed to helping service members and their families get their financial lives squared away. David has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Political Science from University of Tennessee at Martin, and a Master’s degree in Theater Operations and Planning from Command and General Staff College, and a Master's of Philosophy in National Defence from the National Defence University of Pakistan. He holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses plus life and health insurance licenses in FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, NC, OH, TN, TX and WV. Understanding that the biggest obstacle to financial security for most people is their own behavior, David serves as a personal financial coach to clients, continually reinforcing positive financial behaviors. He advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. David will work with you to establish specific, meaningful goals that are consistent with your values and then develop a personalized financial plan to guide your pursuit of those goals. Active in his community, David is a member of Lions Club of Elizabethtown, the Veterans of Foreign War, First Cavalry Division Association of Radcliff and MOAA. In his free time, David enjoys cooking, golf, and spending time with family. First Command Financial Services was founded in 1958 by a retired Air Force officer for the specific purpose of improving the financial well-being of military professionals and their families. Today, more than 500 First Command Financial Advisors across the country and abroad, many of whom also served, are committed to the company’s Mission of “Coaching those who serve in their pursuit of financial security.”
