When a patient gets injured, it can be devastating. It affects their mobility, their function, and their entire life. I chose a career in orthopaedic trauma because I want to help people get back to their regular lives. As a surgeon, I find it rewarding to help restore the best possible function I can. As a caregiver, it is gratifying to see patients heal, recover, and get back to the activities they love. I treat my patients the same as I would myself or a family member. Everyone is different, though. Circumstances, activity levels, goals, expectations, and tolerance for risk, are different for everyone. It is important to educate and discuss options, and have shared decision making with my patients. Regardless of the treatment decision, I want my patients to know that I'm committed to their health. I will be there each step of the way as they recover. Caring for trauma patients is a team sport. Our orthopaedic trauma service is a team of passionate, dedicated providers that care about our patients - from their injury, through recovery, to well-being.
