Kenneth N Schikler, MD

Kenneth Schikler, M.D., is the chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Schikler is a professor of pediatrics at the UofL School of Medicine, a position held since 2004. Dr. Schikler is board-certified pediatrician through the American Board of Pediatrics. He is the chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section on Rheumatology Executive Committee, has served or is serving in several other leadership roles, and is a member of numerous academic societies. Over the course of his tenure, Dr. Schikler has been recognized as a lauded educator and physician. He was selected in 2014 as one of the ‘Best Doctors in America.’ In 2017, the American Academy of Pediatrics named him recipient of the James T. Cassidy Award, bestowed to an individual for their achievements as an educator and contributions to the field of rheumatology. Twice, he was named UofL’s Top 10 Clinical Teacher of the Year. He has delivered nearly 200 oral presentations at local, regional, national, and international meetings and his printed work has appeared in more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Schikler earned his medical degree in 1968 from the University of Louisville. He completed his residency in pediatrics at University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals and then went to Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in New York for fellowship training in adolescent medicine.
