Dr. Pavol is associate professor of neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center. She has been board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology since 1999. Dr. Pavol joined the Columbia faculty in 2007 after many years in rehabilitation medicine settings. She has extensive experience in brain injury rehabilitation program coordination (inpatient and outpatient), as well as cognitive and neurobehavioral assessment with a range of medical diagnoses, including vascular disorders, heart failure, brain injury, and dementia. She performs neuropsychological evaluations for inpatients and outpatients. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Pavol performs neuropsychological testing for an NIH grant examining the relationship between cognition and carotid disease. She has extensive experience in the design of neuropsychological exams to evaluate cognition, mood, and quality of life. She has coordinated training and certification in cognitive assessment for three industry-sponsored trials for cardiac devices and has performed Quality Assurance for an NIH grant. Dr. Pavol's research interests include the study of cognitive outcomes in heart failure patients with left ventricular assistive devices. She has worked with members of the NYP inpatient acute rehabilitation department to design a novel method of working with stroke patients (feasibility study in progress).
