I chose to become a doctor while living in rural Lesotho in Southern Africa. I saw the incredible work that was being done to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients and those with multidrug resistant tuberculosis in these small villages. I saw how life-saving and important their work was, and I wanted to do the same. I strive to provide the quality of care for my patients that I would want for my family members or myself if I or they had a surgical issue. I like all aspects of general surgery, and I particularly like emergency general surgery and global surgery. Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, hiking, swimming and chasing after my two children.
