Michael Hernandez, MD, Pediatric Psychiatrist

What I find most rewarding as a child and adolescent psychiatrist is working with families to help improve their children's lives. During my undergraduate years, I pursued a degree in molecular biology and microbiology at the University of Central Florida, and afterwards I obtained my medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. My post-graduate training focused on the fields of general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry, which is the intersection of psychiatry and the law. My approach to care is collaborative and supportive. First, I work to understand and prioritize the challenges a child and their family face. After establishing that, we work together to choose an intervention to help overcome their challenges. Often, this can include a combination of behavioral interventions, evidence-based psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy and mind-body-based interventions.
