Roy Cardoso, M.D., FACS, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in conditions of the hand and upper extremity at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. His clinical interests include surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. He is particularly interested in complex elbow reconstruction and peripheral nerve injury, including the brachial plexus. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Dr. Cardoso was an assistant professor of hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Miami for three years. There he helped train residents and fellows. He has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including brachial plexus, wrist and elbow injuries. Dr. Cardoso has also participated in many volunteer medical trips overseas. Additionally, he is involved in both clinical and basic science research. He has co-authored a number of medical articles and book chapters. In 2001, he was recognized with an Interim Year Research Training Award by the National Institutes of Health. In 2011, he was chosen as a Young Leader by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Cardoso approaches patient care by treating his patients as he would his family, with compassion and empathy. He is committed to listening to and addressing each person’s questions and concerns.
